Each semester more than 800 Iowa State students work for ISU Dining. Our employment is not only very convenient, but it is also financially beneficial. For most students it is one of the best ways to make new friends, gain valuable work experience, and conveniently balance work with school. Previous experience is not necessary.

ISU Dining employees are paid twice each month. The amount you receive will vary with the number of hours you work and the employment plan option you select. Pay rates range from $8.50 - $9.00 per hour.
If you live off campus, you are also encouraged to apply. You will receive the same rate of pay and be paid twice monthly. If you do not have a meal plan, you may purchase your meals when working for a substantial discount and have the cost subtracted from your pay.
Fall employment begins withorientation during the week prior to the first day of class. You will learn about your role in ISU Dining and receive information and training about the tasks that you will be doing.You will receive four hours of pay and lunch for attending. It is important that all staff attend this orientation.
Line Service- Checker, Server, Supply, and Deli
Retail Service- Customer service, cashiering, short-order cooking
Production- Cook, baker, and salad preparation
Dining Room- Beverage or salad bar attendant
Cleaning- Mopping and Vacuuming
Banquet Host- Setup and Wait Staff
Catering- Setup, Server, and Attendant
Bar and Beverage- Bartenders
Dishroom- Washing dishes, pots, and pans
Vending- Supplying vending machines
Miscellaneous- Office Personnel, Computer Data Entry, Store Room and Laundry
