ISU Dining Employee Selected Runner Up for Prestigious NACUFS Student Excellence Award

AMES, Iowa— Laurry Wailes, an Iowa State University student and ISU Dining employee, was recently selected as first runner-up for the 2011 Mary Molt Student Excellence Award from the National Association of College and University Food Services (NACUFS) Midwest Region. In recognition for her “outstanding service and leadership,” Wailes received a $500 scholarship from the NACUFS Midwest Region.

“It’s definitely an honor just to be nominated for such a prestigious award,” said Wailes, whose double majoring in Management and Logistics and Supply Chain Management. “It’s always a great feeling to know your work is appreciated.”

Wailes was nominated for the award by ISU Dining staff for her work as student manager of the Dining Student Scheduling Office. Criteria for the award included reliability, quality of work, initiative, teamwork, and contribution to employer.

“She’s refreshingly friendly, has a positive outlook, steps outside of her comfort zone and embraces challenges,” said Diane Schmidt, Assistant Manager of Union Drive Marketplace. “Laurry will be an asset to any organization that hires her in the future.”
