Hawthorn Market and Café to Reopen August 25th

Ames, IOWA - Due to construction delays, Iowa State University's Hawthorn Market and Café will now be reopening Thursday, Aug. 25. The ISU Dining location was originally slated to be open before students began arriving on campus for a new school year.

"We are experiencing some setbacks in the construction process, but we fully expect Hawthorn to be up and running shortly after the start of school with a number of noticeable improvements for our customers," said Nancy Levandowski, ISU Dining Director.

Hawthorn Market and Café closed in May as part of a larger construction project that will see a revamping of the Frederiksen Court Community Center. The construction project is designed to create several advantages for residents of the surrounding Frederiksen Court community. Advantages include 24/7 access to the Frederiksen Court Community Center lounge area, new ordering kiosks and a self-serve one-time thru buffet at Hawthorn, and an expansion of the Frederiksen Court Department of Residence staff offices.

"Customers will notice two major improvements at Hawthorn," said Kristi Patel, Assistant Director for Retail Operations. "They will receive quicker speed of service as well as expanded product offerings, including Hot Stuff pizza, Starbucks Frappuccinos®, and toasted subs as well as expanded dinner offerings."

Until Hawthorn Market and Café reopens on Aug. 25, ISU Dining is encouraging students to try other locations on campus. Meals and Dining Dollar$ from student meal plans can be used at other ISU Dining facilities.
